Tell me about the new 2019 Kia Forte generation!

All-new for 2019, the Kia Forte enters into its third generation with a more technologically enhanced, sophisticated design. This is more than a mere commuter car, this is a high comfort journey companion for short around-town drives or long vacation hauls. Inspired by the Stinger, the Forte presents a long hood with short deck design, lending to an overall fastback-like design with an athletic stance and sporty attitude. A new tiger nose grille is framed with Stinger-like headlamp housings, while air curtains help improve aerodynamics and performance. Inside, despite its 'compact sedan' class, the Forte has expanded the occupant cabin for a more comfortable passenger space. Overall, the length of the vehicle has increased 3.2 inches for more legroom and additional trunk space. The cargo compartment houses 15.3 cubic-feet of spaciousness, among the largest in the segment. Need more? Not a problem; the Forte5 hatchback design offers an increased standard 23.2 cubic feet in the trunk and 56.4 cubic-feet with the 60/40 rear seat folded flat. The dash has been outfitted with a standard eight-inch color touchscreen for media, phone, and optional navigation control, while increased soft-touch elements enhance the overall luxurious feel of the interior. Increased outward visibility is also great thanks to larger windows.

What new efficiency performance is available in the Forte?

The 2.0-liter Nu four-cylinder engine with Multi-Port Injection enters its second-generation, equipped standard within the 2019 Kia Forte. This engine benefits from Atkinson Cycle technology and a cooled EGR system, components typically found within hybrid vehicles, to further enhance performance and efficiency. This engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or an all-new intelligent variable transmission, transcending the typical continuous variable transmissions by improving feel and handling with an adaptive style shift logic and chain-type belt (a first in a compact class). Now, the shift-step should more closely resemble a conventional automatic transmission, providing smooth and linear acceleration without rubber-banding. The Forte generates 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, improving fuel efficiency from previous years to a maximum 31/41 city/highway EPA estimated mpg when equipped with the IVT. Manual transmission equipped vehicles return 27/37 mpg. While this is the only engine provided within the compact sedan, the hatchback and coupe both have a similar 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, with a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder equipped upon their highest trims. Both these engines are GDI configured with a maximum 25/34 EPA estimated mpg, with the 2.0-liter generating an improved 164 horsepower/151 lb-ft of torque and the turbocharged powertrain generating 201 horsepower/195 lb-ft of torque.

What is included in the Kia Drive Wise safety system?

Featured upon all trims of the Forte in the 2019 model year, a number of Kia Drive Wise technologies have been added to enhance your awareness and safety. Forward collision-avoidance assist comes paired with collision warning to keep you fully focused on the road and obstacles ahead, automatically applying brakes to avoid accidents. LaneKeep Assist is also standard equipment, providing an auditory warning when detecting lane departure. A rear-view monitor is displayed through the eight-inch screen within, providing dynamic curving guidelines to aid in accurate parking and reverse navigation. Higher trims offer further assistance systems, such as Smart Cruise Control, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warnings. A variety of stability systems enhance your drive's handling and responsiveness, such as Hill Start Assist, Traction Control, and Electronic Stability. The cabin features six airbags throughout to protect you and your passengers to lessen the severity of impacts.
